Meet Timelapse Photographer Paul Richardson
Prepare to be amazed by the incredible work of photographer Paul Richardson. His latest showreel, titled Patience, is a breathtaking compilation of his best timelapse sequences captured over a span of two years.
This video is the result of countless sleepless nights, hundreds of thousands of photos, and countless hours behind the camera. It’s hard to even fathom the amount of work that went into creating this piece, but it’s safe to say it’s in the hundreds, if not thousands, of hours.
For instance, the stunning Milky Way shot required a four-day shoot in Wales. Paul stayed up every night, driving around in search of clear patches in the night sky. After four days, he managed to capture a sequence of just 50 images.
Take a look at some of Paul Richardson’s incredible work:
When it comes to his timelapse work, here’s what Paul had to say:
I’ve been shooting timelapse for about 3 years now, with 2.5 of those years being professional. I’ve always had an interest in video editing, creating various videos of computer games. But when I discovered timelapse videos like Timescapes and The Mountain, I was completely captivated by this exciting new medium.

What fascinated me about timelapse was the ability to make the invisible visible. It revealed events that are normally hidden to the naked eye. Inspired by this, I started creating a video showcasing my hometown, which gained attention online and led to paid work.

I started by learning the craft through trial and error. At that time, the main resource was a forum called Timescapes. Nowadays, there are countless tutorials on YouTube that cover everything you need to know. I prefer to spend my time out shooting rather than browsing forums.
Most of my work involves capturing shots for advertising or broadcast. Sometimes, I’m hired by production companies to acquire specific shots for their projects. Other times, I deliver fully finished videos to clients. People
