Get an inside look into the creative world of international composer Herdís Stefánsdóttir! From electro-pop music to film scores, Herdís has done it all. We sat down with her to learn about her influences, working process, and how she got started. Her varied background, including installations in museums, dance, and theater, has helped her find her unique voice and sound. Herdís has already scored two feature films and a few shorts since graduating with an M.A. in Film Scoring at New York University in 2017. She credits her success to always trying to do as many different and inspiring projects as she could, whatever would come her way. Her latest project, scoring the film The Sun is Also a Star, was a bit unusual for her as she was seven months pregnant at the time. However, this experience brought some extra heart into the score, as she had two hearts beating inside of her! As an Icelandic composer, Herdís has not faced any cultural challenges or opportunities when dealing with American directors or producers. She finds it nice to be able to go between the worlds of film and pop, as they both influence each other.
