Sony has just released two new films that were shot with the VENICE 2, showcasing the new frame rates available in VENICE 2 Version 2.00 and the Rialto 2. If you’re a fan of epic short films, you won’t want to miss Tonight We Ride, which features barrel racing and was created by cinematographer Matt Sakatani Roe and camera operator Ryan Wood. The second film takes you behind the scenes, showing how the filmmakers used the Sony VENICE 2 and VENICE Extension System 2 to capture barrel racing in a way that’s never been seen before.
With VENICE 2 Version 2.00, you can now enjoy high frame rates up to 120 frames per second, and the camera can be used with the popular Rialto 2 extension system. The new VENICE Extension System 2 allows you to separate the sensor from the camera body up to 40 feet away, allowing transmission of 8.6K sensor and a tilt/roll sensor to add camera position in the metadata.
To showcase these new features, Roe and Wood explored the world of barrel racing with a professional horse and rider as their test subjects. The Rialto 2 system gave them unencumbered visual access, and the VENICE 2 allowed them to capture low lights and highlights in a way that’s truly remarkable. Lenses were even hidden in barrels and on horseback to capture barrel racing as it has never been seen before.
